Hugh Dancy was born June 19th, 1975 in Stoke-on-Trent as the eldest of three children to mother Sarah and father Jonathan. He speaks fluent French and is married to the actress Claire Danes. Some of his best known roles are as Price Char in Ella Enchanted (2004), the Earl of Essex in Elizabeth I (2005 TV mini-series with Helen Mirren), Buddy Wittenborn in Evening (2007), Grigg in The Jane Austen Book Club (2007), and Luke Brandon in Confessions of a Shopaholic (2009).

I first saw him in Ella Enchanted, but it wasn't until I saw him in (what I personally thought was the horrible) Confessions of a Shopaholic that I took notice. His role in that cringe-worthy movie was the one bright spot, and I decided to hunt down some of his other films, like Adam (2009), which I had earlier saw on my Pay-Per-View trailer channel. It turned out to be a really moving film and I started hunting down his other small budget films and found Coach (2010), a rather predictable but nonetheless endearing flim. Those two remain to be my favorite Hugh Dancy film roles to date out of all the films and shows with him I've had the pleasure of viewing. And I can't wait to see all of his upcoming projects.

His full filmography is at IMDb and more details on him can be found at Wikipedia.
